Parc Guell

This park was bizarre in a good way. It was a mix between Alice in Wonderland and Salvador Dali but designed by Antoni Gaudi. The moment you walk in it is like a park I have never seen before. A lot of Spain has been things I have never seen! Antoni Gaudi's work is all over the city from gift shops to art to actual buildings. so this park being his insane.

First thing you see when walking into the park is basically a row of palm trees going up a ramp to the upper layer. After climbing the ramp there is a look out over the beginning of the park! There are so many areas and hidden places you can relax or stop for a photo op!

The more you walk through the bigger the park seems to get. There is a giant open valley once you walk through the beginning. At the edge of the valley there is a mosaic wall and sitting area that overlooks another lower level of the park and what seem to be a cafe!

We hung out up there for a while and took some photos. We took in the view of the city and the hustle and bustle of everyone around us! it didn't seem that crowded that day ( to me) but there were a lot of people at the viewing areas!

We wanted to see the lower level of the park where we were just overlooking. We walked down on the right side of the valley and there was a giant staircase that came to a pillar park is what I call it! I will show a picture below! It was a giant stone area with pillars everywhere. It was a perfect spot for pictures a picnic or anything really! it was my favorite part of the whole park!

after leaving "pillar park" haha, we walked down a staircase with mosaics and tile all over! There was a fountain, a giant lizard, and a seating area made of this amazing stone and tile work! It was Gorgeous and to think this place was built in 1914 and looked this amazing still was actually very impressive.

There was a gift shop and a cafe on the lower area where we were. We stopped at both. In the gift shop I bought a ring which I have not taken off since. I believe it was 50 euro? I honestly don't remember but I got a tile too and it was 24 and one of my favorite art pieces I have brought home. Its a cool designed and a perfect color. The tile is also designed by Gaudi and in the Casa Mila house that I actually toured  later in the week and didn't know until I was there.

We had to eat in the cafe. We were all hungry from walking around all day. We ordered a ham and cheese baguette sandwich, a falafel veggie wrap, a Margarita pizza, gelato, and chips. It was so good for being at a park. It wasn't like American park food. You know the typical hot dog and nacho cheese. This was good, when we left, I made a joke it was the best food we had eaten so far but it was just that good!

After we ate and got attacked by the birds trying to steal our food, we decided to adventure for a little bit longer before heading back to her apartment! We ventured up the opposite way we came and discovered a whole new world. We found basketball courts and a play area! This park overall was a great day spent! you could easily pack a lunch and have a picnic, do a date day, workout, or even just meditate here it was just that big and peaceful! Highly recommend Parc Guell.
